Record on Magnet Stripe
The coding on the magnate
stripe
is made by special recording machines meeting certain standards, so that the information could be read by each magnet reader all over the world.
The magnate tape has three independent paths for recording and reading. Each of them has different capacity:
• Path 1: IATA, 210 bpi (bits per inch), 7 Bits per symbol, nominal length of recording – 76 symbols – letters and figures.
• Path 2: ABA, 75bpi, 5Bit per symbol, nominal length of recording 40 symbols - figures.
• Path 3: THRIFT, 210 bpi, 5Bits per symbol, nominal length of recording - 107 symbols - figures.
